Workshop: Improving Urban Foraging

Join us for an evening that’s all about the intersection of foraging and smart sensors.

We’ll kick things off with a brief presentation about the work of Concrete Jungle, an organization that harvests food from the thousands of fruit and nut trees growing in yards, on the side of the road, and next to buildings, and shares that food with organizations that serve Atlanta’s poor and hungry. You’ll learn how the organization was founded, about the impact of its work, and how to get involved.

Then, you’ll be invited to roll up your sleeves as you learn about Concrete Jungle’s collaboration with Public Design Workshop, a design research studio at Georgia Tech. Together, the two organizations are designing sensors that make urban foraging more efficient and effective. You’ll have a chance prototype various fruit-sensing devices using microcontrollers and a variety of types of sensors.

This event is great for ages 12 and up.
